now also available in English on New opportunity for for web -- RFC 9102 published, first implementations in progress "Publication of RFC 9102 opened the way for the complete chain of DNS(SEC) records required for DANE validation to be included in the TLS exchange itself. Consequently, when setting up a secure connection (e.g. HTTPS), no extra DNS queries are required in order to check the authenticity of the presented TLS server certificate using DANE."

new in my shop: Light detector, 5V, based on photodiode and opamp -- 5V daylight intensity sensor, for direct connection to AD converter of microcontroller "A modern alternative to the traditional voltage divider circuits based on photoresistors (i.e. LDR's containing cadmium). Photodiodes provide only a small current when light is falling onto the silicon, so they need an operational amplifier before the output can be delivered to an AD converter for readout."

🧐EU study shows #EuropeanPublicServices need to nurture and sustain individual developers and inadequately funded, vulnerable, small, #opensource maintenance projects.

EC report published 'Development of a Funding Mechanism for Sustaining Open Source Software for European Public Services' -- European public services should focus not only on innovative new projects, but also on funding maintenance of vulnerable small open source projects they rely on. Most existing funding is for new projects favouring break-through and scientific innovation. Hardly anything is awarded for long-term maintenance projects.

You can now read and engage with news and information about 🇪🇺 EU policies, in a privacy-focused environment and with no transfer of data outside the EU.

This initiative is part of an EU pilot for supporting and using social media platforms based on open-source software.

More fallout of this power blackout: a damaged router. A new one is on its way...

Workstation crashed due to a power blackout today. Lasted a few hours before the power was back up. Left me with two downgraded arrays due to a range of problematic disk sectors. Had to do some and magic to get everything in order again. Arrays currently syncing, all running smoothly now. Despite this, still rules! :]

now also available in English: Privacy aspects of IPv6 -- Privacy Extensions for SLAAC strongly recommended "Although scanning the whole of the vast IPv6 address space is practically impossible, clever ways of mapping active systems have been devised, making it possible to identify and track end users at the address level."
